Score awareness and Round Management

"I know exactly what I need on the last three to break 90. I've known since the 6th."

You probably know someone like this. You might be someone like this.

I do the maths constantly. What I need to shoot, what that leaves me for the last few holes, what one dropped shot does to the target. It sounds sensible, and sometimes it is, but mostly I'm playing the calculator instead of playing the hole, and the two don't always want the same shot.

The real trouble is one bad hole doesn't just cost me the shots it costs me, it rewrites the whole target in my head, and I spend the rest of the round chasing a number instead of playing what's in front of me. A single seven on the card can quietly ruin four holes I hadn't even got to yet.

I'm not obsessive. I'm just letting the maths run the round instead of running alongside it, and that swaps out good decisions for anxious ones more often than I'd like.

I always know the score. I don't always play it well. I let a good target turn brittle the moment it's threatened, one bad hole can knock my whole round off course, and doing the maths coming in sometimes gets in the way of just playing the hole.

The Score Awareness & Round Management assessment - £19.99 - tells you whether keeping score is helping your game or quietly working against it.
